Trio Guadalevin - Viajes
“Viajes” was written by Jack Straw Artist Abel Rocha, based on poetry from our recent Spanish-language poetry project with students at Denny International Middle School. The song was performed by Trio Guadalevin (Abel, Antonio Gomez, and Gus Denhard).

Artscape: Stan Shikuma
This Artscapes radio piece was produced at Jack Straw as part of a series highlighting the work of Jack Straw’s resident artists. Stan Shikuma, of Seattle Kokon Taiko, talks about the history and evolution of Taiko drumming, and using Taiko performance to break stereotypes of the Japanese-American community.

Charlie Burks - Dark Out
Jack Straw artist Charlie Burks produced Since the Ace, a combined book and CD of his poems, in 2000. Charlie passed away recently; his life and work will be celebrated at Open Books (2414 N 45th St., Seattle) on Thursday, May 24th, 7pm.

Cello Experiment - Going the Distance
Peter Williams and Cello Experiment produced their debut CD through the Jack Straw Artist Support Program. They celebrate with a release show tonight (Tuesday, April 24th) at the Crocodile Back Bar.
