Janice Giteck Main Residency Page

In 1999, during the second year of her Jack Straw residency, Janice Giteck worked with the students of the Northwest School to create a concert-ritual celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the school and the arrival of the new millennium. It included students from all the music programs in the school, as well as the ESL theater program level 3 students who came in the Jack Straw studios to record stories and songs in their native languages and English. Overall there were about 120 students performing in Go Gently into that Good Dawn.

The commemorative original composition by Giteck had its world premiere at ArtsFest Extraordinaire on April 13, 2000.

This project wouldn’t been possible without the support of the Northwest School, Seattle Arts Commission and Meet the Composer.
