Portrait of Sreymom Serey

Sreymom Serey

Sreymom Serey, a proud Cambodian American, developed a deep passion for the soulful Khmer oldies from an early age. With a naturally curious mind, she often found herself captivated by the poetic lyrics, the artists behind the songs, and the rich history woven into each melody. What hidden stories could be uncovered through research into these iconic love songs? This podcast project offers the perfect platform to explore that question. It stands as both a heartfelt tribute to the talented individuals who gifted the Khmer community with such unforgettable music, and a meaningful gift to the Khmer youth abroad, preserving these treasures for generations to come.

For Sreymom, sharing these invaluable stories and beautiful melodies with the world is the realization of a lifelong dream. This project also offers a personal opportunity to deepen her Khmer language skills. Translating the lyrics from Khmer to English will allow her to refine her language proficiency and bridge the gap between cultures. Her hope is that the podcast will unite the older and younger generations through the power of music, history, and shared culture to create a lasting connection.
