Paul Rucker

Paul Rucker is a cellist, bassist, composer, and visual artist. He has released two highly acclaimed CDs: History of an Apology features his compositions performed with prominent NW musicians, including Bill Frisell, Julian Priester, Jovino Santos Neto, and others; Oil, a CD of duets with saxophonist with Hans Teuber, was nominated for “Jazz CD of the Year” by Earshot Jazz. Rucker was voted “Best Emerging Artist of 2004” by Earshot Jazz, and “Jazz Artist of the Year 2005” by the Seattle Music Awards. His recent interactive installation, Wall of Pieces, was recently exhibited at Consolidated Works. Paul has been awarded grants from 4 Culture, Seattle Mayors Office, and South Carolina Arts Commission, and residencies at Blue Mountain Center, Ucross Foundation, Art OMI, Banff Center, and Bellagio.
