Luann Bice is a Seattle artist who believes in the power of story and art to incite conversations about challenging topics. Using her personal history as a reference point, she reflects upon realities of growing older, explores the ephemeral but cyclical nature of human existence and works to disrupt cultural myths. Her work employs a variety of media – printmaking, sculptural forms, artists books, video and audio – to explore what lies “in-between” external appearance and internal richness. By investigating multiple perspectives of identity, loss and aging, Luann welcomes complexity and encourages viewers to celebrate realistic self descriptions and acceptance.
