Bitaniya Giday

Bitaniya Giday is a first-generation Ethiopian American residing in Seattle. She served as the Seattle Youth Poet Laureate in 2021 and now is a Wa Na Wari Black Spatial Histories Institute Fellow, and Truman Scholar. As a trained oral historian and a restorative justice practitioner, she is a strong believer that storytelling and poetry are powerful tools for healing, empathy, and social justice.
