Summit – BeeLyn Naihiwet
BeeLyn Naihiwet‘s project for the 2026 Jack Straw Writers Program is a series of prose pieces that explore the idea of “becoming” through capturing everyday moments. In her conversation with curator Claudia Castro Luna, they talk about why meaning-making is important for everything she does, her prose piece “Lemon” that honors Beyonce’s 2016 album Lemonade, and why dissociation is something that no longer serves her. ”We couldn’t show fear . . . they didn’t have to tell me; it was just that you could not show fear. So, I just had to pretend that I wasn’t afraid.”
Music by Star Gondola, produced through the Jack Straw Artist Support Program.
