Steven Luksan is a composer, pianist, music historian, and educator making music in Seattle. He is a pianist at Seattle Opera and the accompanist for the Seattle Mannskor (The Norwegian Male Chorus of Seattle). He currently serves as Composer-in-Residence with the Northwest Edvard Grieg Society and is the founder and artistic director of the Saltwater Music Series (Des Moines, WA). Steven holds a Master’s Degree in Music Composition from the Univ. of British Columbia and Bachelor’s Degrees in Music Composition and Norwegian Language from the Univ. of Washington.

Steven’s projects in the 2025/26 concert season include two performances of his opera Valparaiso (Oct. ‘25), three performances of his reconstruction of Gerard Tonning’s lost opera Leif Erikson (Oct. ‘25), a concert tour of Norway (Nov. ‘25), presentations of his original scholarship at the International Edvard Grieg Society in Bergen, Norway, a recital at Cascadia Art Museum (Jan. ‘26), an appearance at the Cascade Song Festival (Jan. ‘26), a performance tour with Seattle Opera’s School Opera Tour, and the completion of a new choral composition, co-commissioned by Seattle Opera and the US Army field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus (premiere date TBD).
