About

RadioLingual is a new project to increase the diversity of voices, accents, and languages on the radio airwaves. We started in February 2009 in Seattle, Washington.

Non-native English speakers lead the way. They ask the questions, write the stories, record the sounds that get posted here, to this website.

Then, visitors from around the world leave their voice comments here, on this same website.

Hammad Ahmed and Emily Eagle listen to it all, edit and produce it. It becomes a podcast, sometimes airs on KUOW, and is available for broadcast on other public radio stations as well. Contact us by email: radiolingual@jackstraw.org

RadioLingual started as a project of The Association of Independents in Radio (AIR), in partnership with Jack Straw Productions & KUOW. Support for the project comes from AIR, its members, its partners, and from the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes a great nation deserves great art. Special thanks to University of Washington English Language Programs.
