Please take a few moments to listen to excerpts of
recordings by some of the finest practitioners of traditional
music living in the Northwest. You'll also have the
opportunity to hear short radio features on many of
the artists from a series entitled "Artscapes" which
was produced by Jack Straw and broadcast on public radio.

Through Jack Straw Productions' Tradtional Artist Support
Program, eight Northwest traditional ethnic artists
and their ensembles were chosen by a panel of ethnomusicologists
and folklorists. These artists received twenty hours
of studio recording sessions in the studio of Jack Straw,
enabling them to make a professional-quality demo tape.
Artists also received materials for a complete "press
packet" which included press photographs and biographical
write-ups. By giving traditional artists the means to
promote themselves on a more professional level and
thereby further their careers, Jack Straw hopes to increase
