Jack Straw Productions and Rakumi Arts International, a Seattle supporter of African music and arts, recently completed a recording project that focused on the African musicians of the Northwest.
As part of this program, eight traditional artists and their ensembles from Washington, Idaho, and Oregon were identified, recorded, photographed, and interviewed for the purpose of developing strong documentary materials for their own use and for the production of radio programs. In May 1997, Jack Straw produced a three-hour concert of the work of these ensembles entitled From San Juan to Seoul.
In the spring of 1997, Jack Straw produced a series of Korean music concerts in co-sponsorship with the Seattle Asian Art Museum.
