Artist's Bio:
Judith Roche is a published writer and nationally regarded teacher and arts advocate. She won the 1998 American Book Award for First Fish, First People: Salmon Tales of the Pacific Northwest Rim, and has published her work in literary journals and non-traditional magazines including The American Voice, Willow Springs, and ,The Alaska Fisherman's Journal.
Judith has collaborated on the creation of several public artworks including Water Carry, for the City of Tukwilla; and Talking Wall, a tile installation of words and images for the Metro Arts Commission of Seattle.
Judith has taught writing at the University of Washington in Seattle and has participated in the Washington State Arts Commission's Artist in Residence Program from 1986 to the present.
Judith is a participant of the 2001 Jack Straw Writers Program. She also recently collaborated with Jack Straw Composer-in-Residence, Janice Giteck to create "Navigating the Light," a new work for chamber orchestra.
