Instrument Building Workshop for students from the Orca School

 

 

Residency Composer Jovino Santos Neto and percussionist Bill Trigg work with students to help them create and play their own instruments at the Jack Straw studios.

 

Audio Clip:

Jovino explains the role of the shaker in Brazilian music to the students and teaches them a simple pattern to play. (1:36)




Music and Migration Workshop for ESL students from Seattle Central Community College.

 

This workshop featured Neto discussing ideas about migration with ESL students and how they influence his work as a musician.

At Jovino's request, percussionist Bill Trigg shares a story about how an immigration has affected his own life. Jovino then improvises at the piano based on this story. (4:17)
