Chun Shao. Click here to download the interview.

Visitors will experience a sculptural fiction about an Internet-generated ghost, a metaphoric figure narrated through a series of video mapped kinetic sculptures. The work aims to search and research the poetics between sensuality and the pleasure of watching, which are inhabited and cultivated though the infrastructure of the Internet. This storytelling installation explores the feelings between familiar and uncanny, repulsive and desirable, historical and imaginary.

Chun Shao is an artist whose research interests encompass the field of live performance, multimedia installation, e-textiles, physical computing, data-driven art, and speculative design. Her work aims to depict the evolving aesthetic between human body and its technological implementations. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate at DXARTS, University of Washington. She received an MFA degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and a BFA from China Academy of Art.

Jack Straw Cultural Center gratefully acknowledges City of Seattle Office of Arts and Culture, 4Culture King County Lodging Tax Fund, Washington State Arts Commission, The National Endowment for the Arts, ArtsFund, and individual contributors for their support of Jack Straw Artist Programs.
