HAMILTON INTERNATIONAL MIDDLE SCHOOL: HISTORY PODCASTS 2018

Jack Straw Cultural Center has partnered with students and teachers at Hamilton International Middle School since 2001, producing a wide variety of projects with their students, from cultural celebrations audio stories to a Wallingford walking tour and an oral history of the school for its 80th birthday.

We are delighted to continue this partnership with eighth grade U.S. History students. We collaborated with the students to create short radio plays about several different topics in American history. Our teaching artists vistited the students in school to talk about scriptwriting and production and prepare them to read their work aloud in the studio. Then the students came to the studios at Jack Straw Cultural Center to produce their history podcasts with our team of engineers and voice coaches.

Stream or download the students' pieces and see more photos at the individual classes' pages:

Unit One: Shannon Frizzell

Unit Two: Dan Waldschmid

Unit Three: Anneliese Steuben-Maiye
