Historias del Vecindario: Poesía de Denny 2016 es la culminación de un proyecto con artistas en residencia de Jack Straw con estudiantes del programa de inmersión de octavo grado de Denny International Middle School en Seattle, Washington durante la primavera de 2016.

Los estudiantes y personal de Denny tienen diversos orígenes y representan muchos países diferentes. Durante este programa, los estudiantes de lectura y escritura en español trabajaron con la Poeta Cívica de Seattle y Miembro de Jack Straw, Claudia Castro Luna, para capturar historias de sus vecindarios a través de la poesía. . Los entrenadores de voz Yadira Duarte, Katya Davida Landau, y Kerry Skalsky trabajaron con los estudiantes para animarlos a compartir sus poemas en voz alta y cultivar la confianza en el poder de sus voces. Los técnicos de audio Daniel Guenther y CJ Lazenby ayudaron a los entrenadores de voz a grabar a los estudiantes en los estudios profesionales del Centro Cultural de Jack Straw.

Historias del Vecindario: Poesía de Denny 2016 is the culmination of a project with Jack Straw artists in residence and students from the eighth grade Dual Language Spanish Immersion program at Denny International Middle School in Seattle, Washington during the spring of 2016.

Denny students and staff come from diverse backgrounds and represent many different countries. During this program, Spanish literacy students worked with Jack Straw Writing Fellow and Seattle Civic Poet Claudio Castro Luna to capture the stories of their neighborhoods in poetry.  Vocal coaches Katya Davida Landau, Kerry Skalsky and Yadira Duarte worked with the students to begin sharing their poems out loud and build confidence in the power of their voice. Audio Engineers Daniel Guenther and CJ Lazenby joined the vocal coaches to record the students reading their own poetry in the professional studios of Jack Straw Cultural Center.

Historias del Vecindario: Poesía de Denny 2016 fue producido por Jack Straw Cultural Center y Denny International Middle School con el apoyo generoso del PTSA de Denny, la Comisión de Artes del Estado de Washington, la Oficina de Arte y Cultura de la Ciudad de Seattle por medio de la Poeta Cívica, y donantes individuales. Especialmente se agradece a los estudiantes del programa de inmersión en español de octavo grado de Denny, la maestra Liz Olsen, bibliotecario Jeff Treistman, y el director de Denny, Jeff Clark que ayudaron para hacerle posible este proyecto.
