1/01-12/01 Audio Arts Internships for Middle/High School students 45-hour quarterly internships which include audio arts training, mentorship with an engineer for work on a special project, and observation of professional studio recording sessions.
1/01-3/01 Coyote Junior High Radio Theatre Project Middle school students work with theater artists and engineers to produce their own radio theater pieces
1/01 A World of Words Indian writer Githa Hariharan spoke at Nathan Hale High School and Franklin High School in conjunction with Seattle Arts & Lectures and Hedgebrook.
2/01 Radio Theatre Teacher Training Workshop (Vashon Schools) Teachers from all levels and disciplines experienced first hand the principles and techniques involved in the production of a radio play, creating their own work and discussing classroom curriculum as the basis for sound-based projects.
3/01 Language of Hope - Young Authors project Young author Maggie Sanford recorded her poetry at JSP
3/01 Stevens Elementary - Historic Mural Project w/Jose Orantes Artist Jose Orantes worked with students to create a mural.
3/01 A World of Words Writer Chiedza Musengezi from Zimbabwe spoke at Nathan Hale High School and Franklin High School in conjunction with Seattle Arts & Lectures and Hedgebrook
4/01 Emerging Voices Young writers voice and recording workshop
4/01 Hamilton Middle School Assembly with traditional Mexican musician Juan Barco and ensemble
4/01 Young Blind Writers pilot project Writers worked with blind and visually impaired high school students to write and record readings of their pieces
5/01 Garfield High School ESL writing and recording project based on students' most fearful experience.
5/01 Finn Hill Junior High Oral History Project Oral history based radio theater project following middle school "Project Reach" Culture Fair

6/01 Greenwood Elementary Mural and Radio Drama Event Unveiling of the mural and celebration event
6/01 Franklin High School Music performance & recording workshop
7/1/01 Blind Youth Audio Project High school students from various locations in Washington State participated in a month-long creative radio production project with Jack Straw, Arts & Visually Impaired Audiences, Department of Services for the Blind, and a team of artists.
7/01-8/01 Seattle Center Academy Middle school students from districts all over King County met at the Seattle Center every day for a two-week intensive arts camp. The JSP project involved writing, recording, and producing radio plays. The radio plays were performed live at the conclusion of the session.
Summer 2001 Radio Theatre Camp 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students conceived, wrote, rehearsed and produced an original radio theatre piece.
8/01-12/01 After-School programs with Miller Community Center and Seattle YMCAs Audio arts training for middle school students in the areas of interviewing/ music recording, radio theater, soundscapes, and African music.
9/01-12/01 Kimball After-School Bilingual Project A group of bilingual students and parents developed radio vignettes based on oral history interviews with family members. Students produced their pieces at Jack Straw's studios and then worked with web designers to develop web pages about the project.
9/01 Lakeside Upper School During the month-long project exhibit, Jack Straw educators and artists were invited to facilitate a workshop for Lakeside Upper School based on the Garfield High School audio vignettes.
11/01 Cambodian Youth Project Jack Straw collaborated with the Wing Luke Asian Art Museum and the Rainier Vista Cambodian Youth Project to record excerpts of the stage play "Finding Home" which was written and performed by middle and high school-aged Cambodian/American artists.
12/01 Vashon Island Schools In December 2001, Jack Straw staff and interns worked with students and teachers at two Vashon Island schools, MacMurray Middle School and Chautauqua Elementary, where they had been preparing for radio drama and history productions. Jack Straw staff worked with three classes in the writing, research, sound effects creation, and the production of students' chosen themes. The students' works will be aired on Vashon radio's "Voice of Vashon".
