Writing for and performing with a band. Exploring how a band is an ideal and versatile platform for the modern composer to combine and experiment with different genres, styles and compositional techniques. 2008 ASP artist Michael Owcharuk will be playing recorded excerpts, performing with members of The Owcharuk Sextet, premiering a new work, and having a Q & A session.
Michael is a Seattle based composer, pianist, and accordionist. A musical chameleon, Michael enjoys working with various jazz, rock, classical, hip-hop, and theater ensembles and artists. He can be heard and seen performing his own compositions with his trio and The Owcharuk Sextet.
