Composer Spotlight:
DONALD CRAIG
Wed, June 10, 7:30pm
Composer Donald Craig will speak about his recent work for computer realized sound and visuals.
Donald Craig is a doctoral candidate at the University of Washington School of Music, where he also earned his BA/BM in Music Composition. He has studied with Richard Karpen, Joel Durand, and Kenneth Benshoof. He plays guitar, both classical and electric, and has studied with Steven Novacek. Although he writes for acoustic instruments and ensembles, his primary focus is electro-acoustic and computer realized music. His work, Assonaglyph for Computer Realized Sound, was played at the SEAMUS (Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States) Electro-Acoustic Music Festival. He has worked with several choreographers at the University of Washington's Dance Department, including Rob Kitsos, for whose work Yellow, performed at On The Boards and Meany Hall, he created interactive soundscapes and did some music arranging. Craig's Symphony of Visual Music for computer realized sound and visuals was recently premiered.
