The AYP Centennial Radio Project Three five-minute radio features from Harriet Baskas and Jack Straw Productions, engineered by Tom Stiles, broadcast on KUOW 94.9 FM and made possible with funding from Humanities Washington and 4Culture. Organizations and individuals around the region are celebrating the centennial of the 1909 Alaska Yukon Pacific Exposition: Washington’s first World’s Fair. The event filled the grounds of what is now the University of Washington campus with impressive and innovative cultural, scientific and agricultural displays and shone a national spotlight on Seattle. These three radio stories explore several aspects of the fair: the music, the souvenirs, and some of the event’s lasting legacies and innovations. Episode 1. Meet me in Seattle: Music at the AYP Episode 2. Souvenirs of the AYP Episode 3. Legacies of the AYP
